Dear BCAA Families,

 

Welcome to a new school year at Busbee Creative Arts Academy! Whether this is your first year with us or you’re a returning family, I’m so glad you’re here. Middle school is such a pivotal time in your child’s life, and I consider it a true honor to be part of their journey.

 

My name is Alicia Katherine Dickerson, and I’m proud to serve as the Interim Principal of BCAA. With over 25 years of service in Lexington School District Two, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students and families across several schools, most recently as the Assistant Principal of Instruction at Brookland-Cayce High School. I’ve also taught English at both the middle and high school levels and coached tennis and competitive cheer. Every role I’ve held has deepened my belief in the importance of building relationships, setting high expectations, and supporting students in and out of the classroom.

 

I’m also a proud 1995 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School—and perhaps more importantly to you, I’m a fellow parent. My son attended BCAA as a student and graduated from Brookland-Cayce in 2021. I’ve sat where you sit. I know how much you care, how fast these years go by, and how important it is to know your child is in a place where they feel safe, supported, and challenged to grow.

 

This year at BCAA, our theme is “It’s Showtime!”—and we truly believe every student has something special to bring to the stage. Whether it’s in academics, the arts, athletics, or leadership, we want every Bulldog to find their spotlight and feel proud of who they are becoming.

 

As the feeder school to Brookland-Cayce, we take our role seriously in preparing students for what’s next. But just as importantly, we’re focused on helping them thrive right now—academically, socially, and emotionally. We want your child to love coming to school and to feel seen and celebrated for who they are.
