About the Academy Bands

About the Academy Band Program:

The Academy Band is a comprehensive three-year music education program dedicated to musical excellence, behavior, and attitude. We provide the musical needs of each student, as well as the school and community.

Our Director:

Hunter Reese is in his seventh year of teaching band at the Academy. He is very proud to teach at the school where he first found his passion and love for music!  As an educator, Mr. Reese wants his students to grow in the craft and art of making music as well as help them develop into independent and capable young adults. In 2023, the Academy Winds, BCAA's top-performing ensemble, earned a Superior Rating for the first time since 2001.

Mr. Reese graduated from Anderson University in 2017, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He is currently working on earning his Master's Degree in Administration from Columbia College and is expected to graduate in May 2024. Outside of school, Mr. Reese still performs on the instrument he started to learn at BCAA, the saxophone, in the Carolina Winds. In his free time, Mr. Reese enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara, and their spoiled dachshund Pepper. He also enjoys playing board games and video games.
