Welcome to all English I and ELA 8 students!
I am Rebecca Helms. This will be my 11th year teaching, and I am excited that it will be my 2nd year teaching at The Academy. I am thrilled to be here! I will be teaching 8th Grade English I and ELA 8.
Background: I graduated from The University of South Carolina with a degree in Middle Level Education. I majored in both English and Math and can teach both subject areas. My master's degree is in Technology Education, also from The University of South Carolina. I am gifted and talented endorsed, a 4.0 evaluator, and mentor certified in the state of South Carolina.
My passion is getting to know my students each day and helping them find material to read; and actually maybe... just maybe ENJOY to read and write.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going on trips, and watching sports games. AND of course playing with my sweet puppy dog.
I am thrilled to be continuing my journey at The Academy! Together, we can make this an amazing and life changing year.
