Welcome New Teachers
Ms. Charvez Holmes
Hello, my name is Ms. Charvez Holmes and I am honored and humbled to teach at Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy. I earned my Master’s degree in Health Administration from Webster University. I attended undergrad at Benedict College and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics. I am certified to teach middle-level science.
I have a passion for science which transpires to a cultivating learning environment! This is my second year of teaching. My first teaching job was in Union County and I taught science for grades 6-12 from 2018-2019. I was also the Head Junior Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach for the Union County Lady Jackets Girls’ Basketball team. I am ecstatic to teach middle school science at Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy!
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and participating in extracurricular activities such as basketball, softball, and shopping. My daily mantra is, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ms. Rebecca Burriss
I’m Rebecca Burriss, and this will be my 4th year of teaching English. However, this will be my first year at a middle school. I have a B.A. from Clemson University in English and Secondary Education with an add on Middle Level Certification and a M.Ed. from Claflin University in Curriculum and Instruction. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, my husband, David, and our cockapoo, Tanner. I also enjoy reading, watching the Clemson Tigers play football, cooking, and crafting. I am excited and ready to begin my first year at Busbee!
Ms. Karlee Smith
Hello! My name is Karlee Smith and I recently graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Level Education. I am very excited about the opportunity to start at Busbee Creative Arts with all the amazing staff and students! Let’s have a great year!
Ms. Alyssa Langford
Hi Bulldogs!
I'm Alyssa Langford, one of your 6th Grade Math Instructors. I am a current graduate of the University Of South Carolina Department Of Education. I am excited to share my first year with the Bulldog family.
I have 6 years of experience working in the education arena. My experience varies from small group tutoring sessions, Coding, S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Arts, and Math), to a quasi-military Math Instructor.
I am very excited to share this first year of teaching Middle School with your students. I look forward to learning, growing, and building futures together on this educational journey.

Mr. Drew Rittgers
Drew Rittgers taught math and special education in Milwaukee Public Schools prior to relocating to South Carolina with his wife and 12 year old son, and is excited to join the 8th grade team at BCAA. When not trying to transform the family’s new South Carolina property, Drew enjoys cycling, playing guitar, and all things basketball.
