8th Grade Science
My name is Susan Cathou and I am the lead 8th grade science teacher and Science Department chair for Busbee Creative Arts Academy. I grew up in Lexington 2 attending Claude A. Taylor Elementary School, Busbee Middle School and I graduated from Brookland Cayce High School. I gained my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Francis Marion College and I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Columbia College. I am elementary and middle level certified. I have had several student teachers during my career and have served as an evaluator for new teachers. I have all levels of endorsements as well as Read to Succeed and Gifted and Talented Endorsement. After 15 years of teaching in other schools and districts in South Carolina, I came home to Lexington 2 and I have taught all three grade levels of Science here at Busbee as well as a forensic science elective. I love to travel and have visited 27 states, 7 of the Canadian provinces, as well as 5 countries over the years. I am one of the most experienced teachers at this school and I have worked on the district level to help plan our Science curriculum.
