Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade Language Arts!!!

My name is Tisha Gary Ward. I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. This is my 25th year of teaching. I have a bachelor's degree from Long Island University in Brookville, New York.  I also have a Master of Education Degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. I am excited about my new journey with Busbee Creative Arts Academy. My teaching style includes a mixture of collaboration, art, and language arts. 

My students will read a variety of literary and informational texts. 7th grade students will infer and compare/contrast different perspectives on similar topics or themes. They will also evaluate elements of the author’s craft to create emotional responses in the reader. 

8th grade students will participate in a variety of instructional strategies designed to help them become self-directed, collaborative, reflective readers and writers. It is my hope that at the end of the year, they are more self-reliant and have become independent thinkers that can use their reading and writing skills proficiently and confidently.
