Welcome to Visual Art at Busbee Creative Arts Academy!
Hi! I am Caryl Cathou. My career in education started at Muller Road Middle School in Richland School District Two and has brought me back "home" to Lexington Two. I grew up in Lexington Two schools- I attended the "old" Busbee Middle School and graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School. This will be my 14th year teaching middle school Art and I am excited to return for my third year teaching at Busbee Creative Arts Academy!
I teach quarter long 6th grade Art; one 7th grade semester of Art; one 7th grade, year long Honors Art; one 8th grade semester Art and a high school credit, Art I for 8th grade.
I studied and earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Painting and minored in Art History at Francis Marion University. After graduating from FMU, I worked as a receptionist at Midlands Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery for several years until the calling came to go back to school to earn a degree in Art Education. I attended The University of South Carolina to earn my Masters of Art in Teaching Art Education. I also earned an endorsement through Coastal Carolina University in teaching gifted and talented students.
I look forward to an exciting school year! Go Bulldogs!
