Masone named new principal at Busbee

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Busbee Creative Arts Academy’s next principal is a familiar face in the school community.


Sam Masone, who most recently served as Busbee’s assistant principal, was selected for the top job at the school. The hire was recommended by Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner and approved by the Board of Trustees at the Sept. 21 monthly meeting.


Masone has spent his education career in Lexington Two. Before becoming Busbee’s assistant principal in 2018, he was an English teacher and administrative assistant at Airport High School from 2016-2018. His first job was as an English teacher at Airport, from 2007-2016. Masone received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from University of Phoenix.


“I am most excited to lead an incredible team. Our teachers and staff members truly pour their hearts and energy into creating a positive, safe learning environment for all Busbee students,” Masone said. “I look forward to engaging our school community and supporting our mission of creating diverse learning opportunities that allow students to grow creatively and build confidence in themselves.”


Masone will begin his new role immediately.  He succeeds Stephanie Hucks, who has been promoted to another position in Lexington Two.
