Good Morning and good afternoon everybody.  It is that time again.  The other Arts teachers and I need your input on a survey. This survey is used in gathering data for a grant that we apply for on an annual basis.  This helps all the arts teachers get cool stuff for the classroom such as instruments and music.  It even helps pay registration fees for things like Carowinds and CPA.  It has also helped out with transportation for us for events such as Carowinds, CPA, and the Lex2 Honors Orchestra. Please complete this by the end of class tomorrow 5/23/23.

Good afternoon everybody.  As you are aware, I am away from school today.  Today we need to take some time to define some vocabulary words.  To do this you will access your copy of the Google Slide show.  Under each word type the definition of the term. 
You may use your Orchestra book and you may use the internet to help you.  Please make certain you are using sources such as an online music dictionary to avoid getting incorrect information.

Hello everybody.  This assignment is for you to quickly show me that you know how to form the bow hand shape correctly.  You may video at home or at school. Here are the guidelines for the video.
1. We need to see your right hand holding the bow correctly.
2. Only your hand. (Not your friend or neighbors)
3. We need to see it holding the bow right side up. (See images 4840 and 4836)
4. We need to see you turn the bow over so we can see that the bow is correct and your thumb is "bumpy". (See images 4841 and 4845)
5. We need to see your hand is forming an oval on the inside. (See images 4846 and 4847)

Mapping the fingerboard (E-Learning for 9/30/22)

Good morning.  We are going to do a lesson on mapping the fingerboard which follows up on the worksheet we did in class while some people were completing their last playing quiz. Because of some unforseen complications in scheduling I need to do a video.  If you need help, please let me know.  We can set up a Google Meet. 
The product that you will need to show me on Monday is the diagram of the fingerboard.  Please follow along with the video. Be on the lookout for a cameo appearance.  :)
Addendum: In response to a few individuals who stated they could not see the video in another class I am providing a listening journal option here below.  IF you were not able to see the video or hear it please complete the listening journal below for an opportunity to earn credit.

Students will go to the link that is specific to their instrument.  They will have a brief quiz on reading the notes associated with the notes of the D String.  The test is facilitated through musictheory.net and can be taken up to three times.  After finishing the quiz students will need to do the following:
1. Click on their high score.
2. Type their name in the square next to "Sign Report".
3. Click "Sign Report"
4. Click "Copy Link" or "Copy Code"
5. Go back to the form. 
6. Past their code or link into your section of the form.
7. Click submit
8. Go back to Google Classroom and click "Mark as Done".
After students have finished they may do the following:
1. Work on work for other classes.
2. Read quietly
3. Put their heads down and have some rest.

Good morning.  I know there were some issues yesterday with the chromebook update.  I am reiterating the instructions here to try to help alleviate some confusion.  First, your grade will NOT be penalized if you get a question wrong.  This exercise is to help you get familiar with the process of submitting this type of assignment to me electronically. You will need to do the following:

1. Follow the link below.
2. Within 3 minutes identify as many notes as you can.
3. If you get it wrong take a few guesses, it is set up to allow for multiple attempts.
4. When you finish, click on your high score to view the report.
5. Type in your name.
6. Click "Sign Report"
7. Click "Copy Link" or "Copy Code".
8. Submit that to me in a private comment by clicking "Private Comment"
9. Press Ctrl + V to paste it into the box.
10. Click Send
11. Mark as done.
12. Enjoy a grade of 100. :)
