Below are the excerpts that you will need to play.  You may turn in your audition video sooner than the due date but no later than the due date. I need to get instrumentation settled and have the parts be as balanced as they possibly can be.
You will audition for me in person or you will submit a separate video for each excerpt.

*Remember, if you do not qualify to go to CPA then you still need to practice these excerpts because there will be another round of auditions for students who want to go to Carowinds.

Virtual Learning Day 1/9/24 in Google Classroom

Virtual Learning Day 1/9/24

Good morning everybody. I hope that you are staying safe and dry at home today. Today you will have two options for your assignment.
1. You may complete a video of yourself performing 8 to 10 measures from one of the following pieces of music.
1. Sunflower
2. Sword Dance
3. Wood Splitter Fanfare
4. Beethoven Lullaby
If you have a Suzuki book at home then I will also accept selections from that as well. Please make certain you let me know which selection and which number from the book it is.

For those individuals who do not have their instruments with them. (Yes, I did check the shelves before I left.) You will need to practice identifying intervals.  This is a new exercise so I will not take points from you if you get something wrong. I am more interested in the process of your learning and getting the validation code from you to prove you have engaged in this activity.
There are several options with this exercise in particular.
1. Unison (The same note will be played twice.)
2. Minor 2nd (Think Jaws or the opening measures of Baby Shark.)
3. Perfect 5th (Think the tune of "Star Wars".)

You will then send me your validation link or validation code using a private comment. Once you are done then you need to do the following:
1. All-Region Orchestra material.
2. Essential Elements Book 2 pages 6-9
3. Practice your scales
4. Work on concert music.

Note Identification OR Instrument Practice in Google Classroom

Note Identification OR Instrument Practice

Hello everybody.  I hope you are staying safe.  You will have several options for your virtual assignment today.
Option 1. Click on the link below to practice identifying the notes on the staff.
A. Once you are done click on the "view report" button.
B. Type in your name next to the "sign report" button.
C. Click on the "Sign Report" Button.
D. Click on "Copy link" or "Copy Code"
E. Paste your code or link in a private comment.
Option 2:
You may make a video of yourself practicing any of our music from class and upload it to Google Classroom by clicking on the "upload file" button just below the "Mark as Done" button. Then mark it as done so I can give you some feed back. If you get stuck then please feel free to port into the Google Meet.
Some things I would like to hear:
A. Large Ensemble Music
B. All Region Audition music
C. Scales (D Major, C Major, or E Melodic Minor)
*If you are working on the C major scale video the actual playing of the scale starts about half way through the video. Apologies for singing a bit out of tune at parts.  The fingerboard mapping portion of this is actually a very helpful thing to do. If you are struggling with a scale then I highly recommend making your own fingerboard map.
**Yes, I know this is just cello but I have not finished my work with the other instruments yet. This virtual session came up a bit faster than I could put the video together.
