The Bulldog Orchestra Page
Hello everyone, my name is Mr. Rogers and I am very excited about this year in Orchestra. This is my fourth year in Lexington District Two and my first at The Academy. In 2009 I graduated from Winthrop University with my Bachelors in Music. (Go Eagles!) In July 2017, I completed my Masters of Music Education with The University of Southern Mississippi. (Southern Miss. To The Top!) Prior to my appointment at Brookland-Cayce High School, I was a performing artist. As a saxophonist and clarinetist, I have performed with the symphony orchestras of Florence, S.C., Fayetteville, N.C., and Charlotte, N.C. I was also honored to be a guest performer with The United States Army Field Band.
As a musician and educator, I have become a firm believer in the benefits of studying Music for the student. Studies have shown benefits to the student that are not only cognitive but social as well. As musicians, we must work cooperatively to achieve success in our craft. 21st century graduates must also collaborate in the work place and therefore directly connects with the study of Music. Last but not least, let us not forget the collegiate opportunities for those students who persist in Music through high school.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my web-page. If you have any questions about how your student might join the Bulldog Orchestra or the benefits of performing in orchestra, please contact me. My e-mail address is Jrogers@lex2.org.
