The Academy Orchestra Page

The Bulldog Orchestra program started in 2017 school year. As a new program we are working to establish a tradition of excellence that our community will be proud of. In this short time the program has grown to service 6th through 8th grade. In 2020, the "Academy Orchestra" participated in our State Concert Performance Assessment (CPA) event and earned a rating of "Excellent". In 2022, we traveled to Charlotte, N.C. to participate in the Carowinds Festival of Music and earned a rating of "Excellent". In 2023 we participated again in the State CPA and earned a rating of "Excellent" and came within two points of earning a rating of "Superior".

Throughout their course of study in The "Academy Orchestra", students will learn musicianship skills to help them be ready the demands of high school orchestra. We further work to ingrain in our students the skills identified by the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.

About the Director

Mr. Rogers is very excited to be the Orchestra and Guitar director here at Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy. He began his teaching career in 2015 as the Director of Orchestra and Guitar at Brookland-Cayce High School. In 2019 he was transferred to be the full time director for Orchestra and Guitar at The "Academy". Prior to his appointment with BCHS, Mr. Rogers performed at different events on saxophone and clarinet. Mr. Rogers has made guest appearances with The United States Army Field Band, the Orchestras of Charlotte, N.C., Fayetteville, N.C., and Florence, S.C. Mr. Rogers obtained his Bachelors of Music Performance at Winthrop University in 2009 and in 2017 obtained his Masters in Music Education from The University of Southern Mississippi.
