Vision Statement

Our Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy mission is built upon a foundation of
continuous improvement and life-long learning – for all students as well as adults. The
enclosed Vision and Values created by our faculty and staff members provides the
“imagination” of what it is we hope to become as a school community. It is our vision for
the future.

I. Curriculum

In an exemplary school the curriculum:
A. Involves common goals and teacher collaboration.
B. Involves teaching strategies that are hands-on, real world, motivating, and
interdisciplinary.
C. Establishes consistent and rigorous content for all subject areas.
D. Focuses on instruction that is technology and arts enriched.
E. Integrates technology and resources to meet all students’ needs.
F. Involves common assessments that are:
• authentic
• varied
• fair
• related to the standards taught
• assesses students’ understanding
• provides a variety of opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery.
G. Involves a systematic approach to mastery through remediation and enrichment.

II. Students

In an exemplary school students will:
A. Demonstrate an academic attitude by showing a desire and commitment to learn,
accept responsibility of their own learning, value their own ideas and ideas of
others, and demonstrate mastery of all content.
B. Demonstrate responsibility through showing respect to self and others, come
prepared, follow school and class rules, and exhibit behaviors which will promote
a positive learning environment.

III. Staff

In an exemplary school all staff will maintain a healthy professional learning community
by:
A. Being cooperative, positive, flexible, and willing to work together.
B. Exhibiting respect to all and are friendly, caring, and professional.
C. Consistently following all rules and hold each other accountable.
D. Participating in professional development opportunities.

IV. Instructional Leader

In an exemplary school instructional leaders will maintain a healthy professional
learning community by:
A. Being decisive and clear communicators.
B. Being open to change and work together with the faculty.
C. Encouraging, supporting, and respecting others and their ideas.
D. Clearly communicating and consistently enforcing academic and behavioral
expectations with all faculty and students.
E. Staying current with all curriculum and best instructional practices.
F. Encouraging a collaborative environment.

V. School Environment

In an exemplary school the school environment:
A. Promotes professionalism towards all students and faculty.
B. Maintains a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment that nurtures students,
parents, faculty, and other community members and leaders.
C. Maintains a clean and safe place in which students, parents, and faculty feel
physically, mentally, and socially healthy.
D. Has simple, consistent, and realistic rules established that reward academic
achievement and appropriate behavior, and helps maintain a positive and
disciplined working environment.
E. Showcases student learning throughout the school and community.

VI. Home – School Relations

In an exemplary school, home-school relations:
A. Improve with innovative ways to communicate with parents
B. Encourage parental involvement through: conference attendance, positive respect
for staff and school, reinforcement of school and classroom guidelines, and
volunteer opportunities.
C. Provide a welcoming environment and show a professional and caring attitude.

VII. Community Involvement

In an exemplary school community involvement:
A. Demonstrates effective communication between the school and the community.
B. Provides resources through service learning opportunities, mentors, classroom
speakers, business contributions to curriculum, and finances.
C. Rewards and recognizes businesses and community partners.
